In 2012, VSC fielded 10 travel teams ranging in age from 5 to 14.  The club finished with a combined record of 49-31-13 for a winning percentage of .597.  Of those teams, two teams won their division (u14 Flash and U13 Strikers) while posting a combined record of 14-1-2.  Two other teams were undefeated in the u9 girls (Vipers) and u10 boys (Venom) divisions posting an overall record of 17-0-2.

VSC travel teams also made an impact in tournaments throughout the 2012 season with finalists in 9 different tournaments.   The Deep Run Labor Day Tournament  and the Deep Run Turkey Day Tournament were won by the u9 Girls and u11 Boys teams respectively.

So what has changed within VSC to facilitate this success?  Obviously the area is producing talented players, but there’s also a new commitment to developing the club. According to Tony Durning, 2nd Vice President and Travel Coordinator for VSC, “Enlisting dedicated volunteers that have both the drive to move the Travel program ahead as well as the vision to see and understand what the needs of the community and players are while keeping a commitment to excellence and competitiveness has helped develop the club.”
