Finland Park Project

FINLAND PARK PROJECT

For the past 40 years Valley Soccer Club (VSC) played intramural and travel games at Phillips Field in Marlborough Township. The Phillips family, a great friend to our club, has found a potential buyer for Phillips field, and VSC must find a new home.

Each season, Phillips Field hosted over 200 youth soccer intramural games.  This facility was vital to Valley Soccer Club.  Without a replacement facility, the club will face significant challenges to continue to operate.    In anticipation of the sale, VSC reached out to Marlborough Township to discuss the possibility of Finland Road Park becoming the new home field for our outdoor programs.

At the Marlborough Township meeting on June 13th 2017, VSC presented a plan to develop a currently underused section of Finland Road Park for the benefit of VSC and the community of the Upper Perkiomen Valley.    Projected costs are significant, and Valley Soccer Club must raise the funds before the improvements to the park can begin.

We have to move on this quickly as we have no guarantees after the fall of 2018 of having access to Phillips Field.  Knowing this, I am calling for the formation of two committees chaired by Jason Brown, our Fields and Facilities Coordinator, and Andrew Gaffney, Assistant Fields and Facilities Coordinator.

  • Jason will be leading the construction committee tasked to find the most economically efficient way to build the new home of Valley Soccer.  Jason has worked in the field of construction for many years and has experience leading large projects.  We are asking those who have construction experience, or who have relationships with companies that may want to help with this project to volunteer for this committee.  You can email Jason at Valleysoccerff@gmail.com
  • Andrew will be leading the Finance Committee tasked with raising the needed funds for this project.  Andrew was a non-profit and political fundraiser for 10 years, and has already begun the process to raise the funds we need.    We are asking those who have experience raising money, grant writing, or are interested in helping to build fundraising events to volunteer for this committee.  You can email Andrew at Valleysoccerff@gmail.com

If you can't serve on the committee I am asking you to do one more thing.  Click on the link above and make a contribution to this project and then share it through your own social media account.  We will only be able to do this if we pull together as a club and engage the community of the Upper Perkiomen Valley.

If every member gave $50 we would be well on our way to fully funding the project today.  Please make whatever contribution you can.

Let’s build this together and finally give the kids of Valley Soccer Club the permanent home they deserve!!

Best Regards

Kyle Fisher - President of Valley Soccer Club '2017'
